Alumni Updates

We reached out to our alumni to see what everyone was up to and got some pretty awesome professional and personal updates! Check those updates out below, and checkout what we're up to in August when our 8th program, (re)new, launches. Maybe we should also address the elephant in the room... For those visiting our site for the first time, no, we don't enroll cats in the program. We just like cats, and cats like SISE. #bestnerdsonearth

(If you're an alum with an update, send it to us!)

As part of his work, he's on the design team for the new University of Illinois at Chicago Ambulatory Surgery Center - a five story medical building to be placed just east of the University of Illinois Health Outpatient Care Center - which is slated to reach or exceed LEED Gold Standard sustainability certification. Bravo, Justin!

Madeline Cole (2014)

Madeline recently developed a new web-based mapping application for her company, Land Scout, where she works with clients in the oil and gas industry, with solar and wind farms, and even works on endangered species surveys. When she’s not working on that, taking care of her puppy Ham, or tending her new house, she’s running her online company, Maye & Company. Wow, go Madeline, go!

Bruno Azeredo (2012)

Bruno - Assistant Professor in Manufacturing Engineering at Arizona State University - was named a Bisgrove Scholar from Science Foundation Arizona. If that wasn't enough, he'll welcome baby Azeredo - and future SISE'er - into his home in July. Awesome work, Bruno, and good luck with the new #SISEbaby!

Sister Jess Lambert (2012)

Sr. Jess recently graduated with a MA in Pastoral Studies and is headed back for Masters in Teaching at DePaul University this fall! Lifelong learning! Keep it up, Sr. Jess!

Faina has been busy working at GE Appliances in Kentucky. This summer, she'll celebrate her first wedding anniversary with her husband and attend the United Nations' UNLEASH Innovation Lab in Singapore where she'll pitch ideas to  the UN's Sustainability Development Goals. (Sound familiar?) Make us proud, Faina!

Candace is working her way up through Curtiss-Wright and has started a new position as Test Engineer. Right now, she's testing reactor coolant pumps for AP1000 nuclear power plants and refurbished motors for old nuclear power plants. Also, she got a new cat - Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas (retired first baseman). Meow-velous, Candace!

Evan Petkov (2014)

Evan made the jump across the pond to Zürich, Switzerland with his Swiss-American girlfriend! After working for RUSAL, the 2nd largest aluminium company, on their Sustainability & Marketing team, he's taking a break to focus on his German skills. We're all jealous, Evan!

Shangyanyan Li (2016)

Yanyan graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in December and now works at American Family Insurance as a Design Researcher  and Strategist. Hoping he'll get us a nice discount. ;) Congrats, Yanyan!!!
