My name is Jelani Hannah. I'm from Illinois. I go to the University of Chicago where I am a PhD in Physics candidate.
What got you interested in sustainability?
Altruism and common sense sparked my interests in energy and sustainability.
What exciting projects/research are you working on now?
Currently, I am working on self-assembled gold nanoparticles for applications in water filtration and energy storage.
What are your plans for the next five years?
My plan for the next five years is to finish my PhD as well as commercialize and distribute novel energy and filtration technologies servicing both the US and world.
What made you want to apply to SISE?
My long term goals in innovation made me apply for SISE.
What are you most looking forward to doing in the city?
I was born and raised in Chicago, so I suggest two categories for food selection. For fast food dining, I suggest Al’s Beef, Italian ice, Harold’s Chicken, Lulu’s, Fontano’s and Maxwell Street. For sit-down dining, I suggest Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s, Gino’s East, Greek Islands, Francesca’s, Szechuan cuisine, Phoenix Restaurant, Mandarin hot pot, Devon Seafood Grill, and Coopers’ Hawk.
Do you like cats? If not, are you willing to learn to like cats?
I like cats, but only domestic cats in near proximity.
