Manjil Puri


My name is Manjil. I’m from Nepal. I go to Eastern Illinois University where I am an MS candidate in Sustainable Energy.

What sustainability, energy, and community issues are important to you?

The energy food water nexus is the most crucial aspect for me as the balance between these factors can ultimately benefit the society and communities.

What exciting projects/research are you working on now?

I am working on a solar electric vehicle project which is among the projects under a umbrella of projects to promote electric vehicle in rural communities like Charleston IL. 

What are your plans for the next five years?

I want to work in the solar energy sector designing solar power projects for the next five years. 

What made you want to apply to SISE?

I want my time in Chicago to be spent by working on the execution side of a sustainable project and also a little sight seeing and roaming around the city. 

What are you most looking forward to doing in Chicago?

I applied SISE  to meet with some excellent people, share ideas and collaborate with them to create a meaningful and sustainable project to help communities. 

Do you like Cats? If not, are you willing to learn to like cats?

I love cats. In fact, I have our beloved "musu" sitting right next to me!
