Rinika Pulupudi

My name is Rinika Pulupudi. I'm from India. I go to the University of South Florida where I am a Masters in Global Sustainability candidate.

What got you interested in sustainability?

With the current focus on Climate Change and its effects that all the species on the planet are suffering from, I am interested in bringing some change within the surroundings we live in. One of the solutions to overcome this problem is through sustainable living and it made me realize that I need to learn more about sustainability.

What sustainability, energy, and mobility issues are important to you?

For me energy is a very important issue that needs more concentration as most rural parts of the world are still not electrified which is one of the very basic needs for the human.

What exciting projects/research are you working on now?

I am working on the energy analysis and energy auditing of the residential buildings and helping them by providing better solutions in saving the energy usage.

What are your plans for the next five years?

I plan to go back to India and start up a renewable energy company.

What made you want to apply to SISE?

The theme, “Transportation through Electric and Hybrid Vehicles” created a keen interest in me to learn more about them. Being a renewable energy student, I felt that it is a wonderful opportunity to gain more knowledge through SISE from UIC.

What are you most looking forward to doing in the city?

I am looking forward to exploring the historic places as well as some famous food joints of the city.

I loooooove cats. 😊 Memes and .gifs of cats and dogs make me laugh. 😊
