My name is Robert Turner. I recently graduated from Tennessee State University where I received my BS Mechanical Engineering. I am a co-founder of Trust Engineering Consulting Group, LLC.

What sustainability, energy, and community issues are important to you?

I am most interested in Sustainable Building Design, Urban and Rural Community Development, Sustainable Agriculture, and Sustainable Product Design.

What exciting projects/research are you working on now?

I recently launched a consulting firm with my former university professor and advisor. We both had entrepreneurial ambitions and are passionate about doing meaningful and impactful work and decided that a partnership would be ideal. We originally began our company to provide Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system designs for energy efficient buildings but have since broadened our scope to encompass sustainable development at large. We are now working with a coffee importer to bring renewable energy solutions to his farms around the world.

What are your plans for the next five years?

ver the next five years hope to grow my firm to be leader in sustainable development and to positively impact the quality of life of as may people as possible across the world. I also plan to earn my Professional Engineer (PE) license and pursue a graduate degree in engineering, urban planning, or law.

What made you want to apply to SISE?

I applied for SISE because I was excited to learn and collaborate with a diverse and talented group of individuals. I have known about the program for a few years but have been unable to attend due to schedule conflicts. Luckily, I was available this year and I am grateful to the opportunity to participate.

What are you most looking forward to doing in Chicago?

I am excited to meet new people and attend some of the music festivals.

Do you like Cats? If not, are you willing to learn to like cats?

Cats are OK. I like cats that like me.
