My name's Zhuoyi “Tony” Zhang. I'm from China. I go to school at the University of Virginia where I am a BS Civil Engineering candidate.

What got you interested in sustainability?

Everything is about sustainability. Anything that’s not sustainable will perish tomorrow, if not today. 

What sustainability, energy, and mobility issues are important to you?

Since I am working in the field of transportation engineering, my concerns are with transportation energy sustainability (fuel choice, mode choice), environmental sustainability (emission, land use), and transportation infrastructure sustainability (material choice, maintenance, public safety).  

What exciting projects/research are you working on now?

We are working on simulations that allow us to learn about the future of transportation and mobility. 

What are your plans for the next five years?

Use my knowledge to shape the future of mobility. 

What made you want to apply to SISE?

The opportunity to meet others and learn.

What are you most looking forward to doing in the city?

Visiting Chinatown.
